Congratulations and Thank You
On the 6th January we celebrated the feast of the Epiphany at St Joseph’s Aged Care Facility and the Diamond Jubilee of Sr Lucy Bange. In 1953 Sr Lucy Bange made the decision to follow that star that led the wise men to Jesus and she found herself in Bowral as a Postulant with the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. After her first profession in 1955.
Sister was an outstanding missionary spending many years in PNG engaged in duties at the heart of the life of the mission including cooking and sewing both for the communities she lived in and teaching the local school girls. For around 14 years, Sister was attached to the Novitiate in Yule Island where she taught cooking and sewing to the Novices.
Sr Lucy returned to Australia in 1999 and became a member of a community of three in Tara Queensland. Due to ill health, Lucy moved to Kensington last year and shortly afterwards to St Joseph’s.
Today we celebrate 60 years of selfless dedication, love, fidelity and commitment of Lucy to her God and of God’s own commitment, tender mercy and enduring love of Lucy.
Lucy is a wonderful witness of a life fully lived as a DOLSH .
