This year we are celebrating the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, the theme is ‘It’s time to Lead, It’s time to Change’
It is very clear to all world leaders that Pope Francis has a special love for nature; in July this year he will be issuing an encyclical about caring for the environment. This is coming at an opportune time as towards the end of the year, world leaders will gather in Paris for crucial climate talks.
As Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart we live out of a Spirituality of the Heart which invites us to realise that God is present not only in our own heart but in the heart of all creation. Whilst we are called into right relationship with people everywhere we are also called into right relationship with our Cosmos, with our Earth. God is present in the heart of our universe, the heart of our earth and as Pope Francis reminds us ….it is ‘a moral imperative to be aware of and take action for climate change and the the impact it will have on the economically poor and marginalized’.
