Meet Jenny Q

I was born in Babatngon, Leyte Philippines. The sixth child of eight children four boys and four girls. I am the youngest among the girls.

I came to Australia in 2006 as a student. After a year in Australia I applied for a job at St. Joseph's Aged care Facility which to my surprise was run by nuns (Daughters of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Congregation). The late Sr. Consolata invited me three times by saying, "It's a beautiful life why not join us." At the beginning I smiled and ignored the invitation because I never thought or even in my wildest dreams thought I would be a nun. At the end I attended the 2010 vocation information day to know & see what religious life was all about. After Sr. Consolata's third invitation I remember that I was not at peace. It's like there was someone whispering in my ear and something missing in my life that I couldn't explain.
I asked for an accompaniment to help me in my searching. At first I was nervous and reluctant but Sr. Elaine Cochrane who accompanied me was a big help in discerning my vocation. I realised that God was calling me to religious life but I was afraid and hesitant to answer but it always broke my heart when I heard the Psalm "Here I am Lord, I come to do Your will." After four years I decided to take the first step to move forward. It wasn't an easy journey but Jesus said, "He would not give us an easy life but He promised to be there always. Just trust in Him."

Love has chosen me to follow my heart's desire and hoping and praying that I will have the courage to persevere till the end to follow Jesus, whatever comes my way.
